Reptile Genetics 101 For Breeding Snakes Reptiles & Amphibians

I am very pleased to announce the official launch of this brand new and exciting endeavour, as well as the grand opening of SinisterSerpents.com! Though, I will leave it up to the website's visitors, I think the website turned out pretty good. It has undergone many changes throughout it's development, but i'm pretty happy with the decisions i've made, which are the end result. Development only began sometime around November 20, 2016, so considering the fairly large amount of initial pages there ended up being and the complexity of the scripting, which went into them, I designed this website in record time.

Some Of The Website's Key Features

SinisterSerpents.com was constructed around the bootstrap 3 framework, so it is 100% mobile friendly and compatible across all browsers, devices and screen resolutions. Though, I will always stand firm in that there is no substitution for a PC when it comes to surfing the net! In all honesty, mobile users, along with this whole "mobile first" movement are a huge nuisance to web developers! I can only bring myself to conform so much when it comes to sacrificing design and features to poor cell phone service. But, after the first, initial page load, these pages load reasonably fast for cell phone users. The Repti-Store is obviously the primary feature of the website. I am very happy with the huge selection of quality pet and reptile supplies and products that I am able to make available to our customers. I am also very happy to give other reputable reptile breeders in the community the opportunity to make their high quality, healthy animals available to our customers on a consignment basis as well. I have incorporated many informative pages for several different species and sub-species of Pythons and Boa Constrictors, as well as an entire 8 page introductory course on Reptile Genetics 101. That was a lot of work! I feel that it is a formidable initial contribution to the reptile community, as well as a pretty clear and simplified introduction to reptile genetics for readers, who are brand new to the study. Aside from those few notable features, users will also find an excellent interactive commenting system on various pages throughout the website. I have many other plans for the website's future and as any quality website, it will continue to grow for many years to come!

I've Been A Bad Boy For A Long Time...

As far back as my earliest childhood memories go, I have always had a huge fascination with snakes and reptiles, as well as amphibians and other creatures. Some of my fondest childhood memories entail spending entire days out in the wilderness collecting snakes, lizards, frogs, crawfish, Praying Mantis' and other creepy-crawly creatures, never leaving a single stone or piece of wood unturned. I would keep them as "pets" for a short while before releasing most of them back into the wild. The less fortunate hostages would sometimes become fishing bait or meet some other demise. Let's just say, I could be a bit of a sadistic (curious) child at times. I recall a funny story from a class field to the circus. It must have been around the 2nd grade. There were vendors walking through the aisles, selling live Chameleon lizards for $5.00. I wanted one so badly, but alas, I didn't have any money. Many of the other kids bought one and I begged one of the girls to let me look at the one she bought. She made me promise to not take it out of the box and I agreed. Of course, temptation got the best of me and I just had to hold it! No sooner than I opened one end of the little box the lizard leaped to freedom and it was gone forever. So, there I sat next to the crying girl among a whole section of scrambling, screaming kids with the empty box. Needless to say, I got in trouble, but I always got in trouble for picking on this particular girl. So, I was used to it...

In More Recent Times

Throughout my adult years I have kept Boa Constrictors and Iguanas here and there. I have always had an interest in getting into breeding reptiles, but my artistic passions and entertainment business endeavours have alsways consumed all of my focus. I am a magician/illusionist and I have been performing worldwide professionally for over 16 years. I am also a musician/songwriter and the founder of the Strange Happenings Ghost And Hauntings Research Society. Though, for the most part, I am retired from paranormal investigation. I have too many passions and not enough hours in the day! For the longest time, I have been wanting to get back into keeping snakes, while at the same time, trying to figure out an interesting new sideline business that I could be passionate about and thus, Sinister Serpents Exotics was born. It was the perfect storm!

Current Projects

I am currently in the process of designing and building multiple rack systems and enclosures and preparing my reptile room. I am also making preparations to start breeding my own feeder rats and building a euthanization chamber for them as well. At this time, my primary focus is based around Blood Pythons, Boa Constrictors, Dwarf Reticulated Pythons, Woma Pythons, hybrids and select Ball Python mutations. I will be releasing more specific information in the very near future. For now, I will just say that I will be working on several different exciting projects in the 2017 breeding season. However, I will have other snakes available for purchase between now and then. I am also considering the possibility of breeding Axanthic Blue Iguanas at some point as well. I also have much love for Monitor lizards, but I am taking things one step at a time. I am based in Pittsburgh, PA and I will be shipping live snakes and reptiles to anywhere in the United States.

Other Projects

Since Youtube seems to be the primary media outlet for most of the awesome people within the reptile breeding community, I am looking forward to producing lots of Vlogs on the brand new Sinister Serpents Exotics Channel and contributing quality content to the community, for which I already have many great ideas. I will be producing a ton of new magic videos very soon as well!

I think that about does it for my introductory blog post in this exciting and fascinating new endeavour. I guess this is what you may consider to be the Sinister Serpents Exotics official debut.
